Financial Impact

This Ordinance will decrease payroll expenses in the General Fund by $77,275.10, JB Wells Fund by $18,389.62, Electric Fund by $65,332.82, Water Fund by $36,781.96 and Wastewater Fund by $18,455.07. These changes are a total savings of $216,234.57 to the City. The specific GL Accounts that are affected are listed on the attached documents with the amounts shown.

RES/ORD

WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution 2017-41 creating the position of Superintendent of Public Works.  The purpose of this position was to establish efficiencies within the city departments; and

WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Public Works has been monitoring productivity through weekly, monthly and long term job planning.  It was determined that three vacant positions can be eliminated from the 2017-2018 Budget; and

WHEREAS, this Ordinance will decrease payroll expenses in the General Fund by $77,275.10, JB Wells Fund by $18,389.62, Electric Fund by $65,332.82, Water Fund by $36,781.96 and Wastewater Fund by $18,455.07.  These changes are a total savings of $216,234.57 to the City’s General Fund.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES, TEXAS:

 

The City Council of the City of Gonzales, Texas hereby amends the budget by decreasing payroll expenses in the General Fund by $216,234.57.
